St George's Circus, London Print

St George's Circus, London Print

Constructed in 1771, St. George’s Circus was London’s first intentionally designed traffic junction, created by George Dance the Younger to link Westminster and Blackfriars Bridges. At its core stood an ornamental obelisk, surrounded by gas lamps. The junction played a vital role in transporting goods from Borough Market in Southwark to the northern side of the Thames.  Originally created as a mixed media linocut.
