Sennelier oil sticks are a composition of oil paint and a neutral mineral wax. Pure pigments are ground into vegetable oils, selected for thier low degree of yellowing over time. Oil sticks can be applied directly to canvas, canvas boards and paper. Apply in a thin film around 1mm thick, layers can be overlapped and thinned with Zest it or turpentine. Oil sticks provide a freedom to painting by allowing a greater degree of spontaneity.
How to use
Before use remove the thin layer of film on the surface of the oil stick.
Apply in thin layers around 1mm thick, layers can be overlapped and thinned with Zest it or turpentine.
Once dry the painting can be varnished in the same way as traditional oil paint. It is always recommended to wait 6 months before varnishing oil paintings.
