A smooth, thick, firm paste that can be mixed with oil paint and powdered pigment. Can be applied to a variety of traditional painting surfaces such as paper, canvas, wooden board. Dries to a very stable finish and can be varnished with a top coat of cold wax and buffed if needed.
A variation of cold wax has been used for thousands of years, cave paintings were made using a type of cold wax made from animal fat combined with pigment and Turner added beeswax to his oil paintings.
Mix with oil paint to create impasto effects and speed up the drying time.
